Confession: Crashout warning lol
Today I was at a busy off-leash dog park with Raven. A man asked if I could leash her as he pulled his off to the side of the path and held the leash taut. I knew this was bad news and quickly called Raven as the man told me his wasn’t fully socialized yet. I quipped back that it should be muzzled then. He told me his dog won’t attack.
My brother in Christ wtf do you mean, get yo untrained ass outta here. We’ve been attacked multiple times because of this exact mindset.
Here’s what I’m really confessing: I don’t think most people should have animals—and honestly, I don’t enjoy having them myself unless they choose me because their needs are enormous. The basics aren’t enough.
I grew up watching creatures be set up for failure, blamed, or discarded when they didn’t meet expectations. I’ve seen what happens when possession and personal desire outweigh education and responsibility.
I’ve worked with a wide variety of species my whole life, and I’ve learned that any fault in my animals is a fault in me. But most people don’t think that way and it breaks my heart.
