Confession: I have a type of Mind Palace, if you could call it that. My brain created it a long time ago when I started struggling with what could be described as partial dissociative disorder.
Simply put, it consists of an anxious younger version of me, current me, and a darkly cloaked, clouded figure me, confined in a wooden shipping container.
With therapy, the container formed a door that opened out to green rolling hills—like the default wallpaper of Microsoft Windows. Progressively, 2 other areas were built, like an information storage system with different uses. And the Dark One (who represents protection and anger) was accepted as a vital part of our space—a good friend. She’s pretty chill now.
It’s a fascinating survival mechanism that my brain subconsciously created, and I can enter/exit anytime I please.
