Day 275

Confession: I started riding as early as a kid does once they learn how to sit up. It’s been years since I’ve touched a horse.

I miss the days when I would blow my nose and it was all black from dirt. Or my thighs would be crusted from the sweat of a horse’s back. But I’m not a “horse girl”.

I used to sit on a milk crate in a field of horses for hours just to study them. I don’t like all horses just like I don’t like all people. I wouldn’t get on one I didn’t know because they didn’t know me either. Riding wasn’t the point. I’d take mine jogging like a dog on a leash. I’d lay in a field reading a book while she stepped around me. The cats would join.

Horses were one of my favourite studies, especially because of how people behave around them. You can tell a lot about someone by how they handle 1000lb prey.
