Day 313

Confession: I used to suffer from stress induced hallucinations.

One time, while driving with my dog (Ziggy) in the backseat, I suddenly thought he had been shot in the leg or hurt and someone was following us. I was panicking and crying as I drove, reaching back to gently shake him to keep him alert until I could get to safety.

It’s strange how during the dissociation, a part of me was thinking “what are you doing?”, but I couldn’t stop it.

After what felt like a couple minutes, the feeling started to fade and I realized we were both okay, and actually just driving home.  I don’t remember where we were coming from, but I know we drove past this gas station, which was down the road from where I lived at the time.

These kinds of hallucinations were rare but Ziggy’s patience and unconditional love was constant. He’s the reason I lived long enough to see the days where these hallucinations no longer exist.
