Day 314

Confession: In my early 20s I participated in an art show, but I sat on the floor off to the side reading a book and ignoring my paintings. People would walk by and say aloud “who’s the artist” and there I sat tucked away, wanting nothing to do with it.

I knew my paintings were good, but I also knew they weren’t me. Earlier, I had walked around looking at everyone else’s art and I could see their language and consistency of self.

Mine were…imprisoned.
